Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner wants his team’s offense to run the ball better than it did in Week 6. We break down the fantasy implications.

Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner wasn’t complaining on Sunday that his team was 6-0 but he didn’t sound impressed with how it got there. Turner said (via The Atlanta Journal-Constitution) that the Falcons were eventually going to have to be able to run the ball and can’t “just assume we’re always going to be able to get an interception or a last-minute field goal every time.”

Turner on Sunday finished with 33 yards on 11 carries and couldn’t get into the end zone from the 1 in the third quarter with the Falcons trailing the Oakland Raiders 13-10. The Falcons as a team finished with 45 total yards rushing, 15 of those coming on a scramble by quarterback Matt Ryan. The Falcons will have some time to address this, as they have a bye in Week 7.

Fantasy Impact: Turner has been a fantasy mystery this season. There are weeks when he is productive and there are others when Ryan has to carry the load. He is by no means a No. 1 option at running back but still figures to get chances near the end zone and if the Falcons lead late in the game.

Fantasy owners should feel comfortable with Turner as a No. 2 running back in most weeks.
